Dear Friends of the Publick House,

The Harrington family of Beverly, MA are proprietors of three renowned Historic Hotels all located in Massachusetts. The Hawthorne Hotel in Salem, the Publick House Historic Inn in Sturbridge, and Concord’s Colonial Inn in Concord. All three of these sister properties are well-known for their accommodations, restaurants, wedding venues and other group related events, meetings or retreats for a quintessential New England experience. These properties have welcomed guests from as far back as 1889. Through the endurance of their leaders, employees and guests, they have persevered through wars, fires and floods. Our tenacity remains the same way as we have been challenged with the impacts of the Coronavirus that is affecting our world.

The safety and well-being of our team members and guests is always our number one priority. In order to flatten the curve and in efforts to stop the spread of the Coronavirus, we have followed the advice and directives from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and other state agencies related to COVID-19.

We pledge to do our part to assist with the community efforts for all of our safety. Therefore, we will be pausing operations and will be closing all three properties Monday, March 23, 2020 through Monday, June 8th 2020.  Outside Dining, Bake Shoppe, and ‘to go’ orders at the Publick House in Sturbridge will be available as of June 8th!  Please visit our website for updates on hotel operations as well as department directories for future bookings of rooms, events and dining.

The mission for our properties is to remain a place that family, friends and travelers can gather in a safe and cozy setting to enjoy New England and each other. We are optimistic that families will soon join together in our ballrooms for weddings and celebrations, colleagues will meet in our function spaces for conferences, locals and visitors will congregate in our pubs, and travelers from near and far will rest their heads on our pillows at night, knowing that they are safe and sound.

We are looking forward to the day when we can open our doors and welcome you back to our properties. Until then, we invite you all to join us virtually as we remain engaged on social media. We ask our friends, staff and guests of the past and future to follow our lead and respond to the CDC guidelines that recommend self-isolation, social distancing, vigilant hand washing, and engaging in stress-relieving activities.

We want to thank you all for your support and understanding, we hope you remain safe and healthy, and we will be ready for your warm welcome when the time comes.
