Since 1771, the Publick House has been the site of countless dream weddings, special events and celebrations, successful meetings, and some revolutionary good times. Today, the tradition continues.

The Publick House will make your event special. We offer a unique mix of rustic atmosphere, colonial charm and hospitality, and a location easily accessible for all your traveling guests. From weddings to sales meetings to corporate retreats to showers and birthday parties, Publick House will provide the perfect setting with your choice of 9 historic private banquet rooms.

Ideal for a mid-size gathering, this charismatic room with its unique barrel vaulted ceiling and wall of window seating overlooks our front patio.  You'll find no finer place for an intimate dinner meeting or reception. This room’s name remains The Ballroom in memory of its legacy, where the ladies and men gathered for formal parties and dancing.  An original 1771 flag is hung on the wall.

Located at the front of the Inn, this room has lots of privacy and natural light and is ideal for a small gathering or private dinner. In 1771, this room was the men’s smoking room.  Men of the town would gather and discuss the latest news and current events while playing their favorite card game.

Enjoy the beauty of this room’s wood-burning fireplace and bay window with access to our front patio.  It is the perfect mid-size to large room for social celebrations and small weddings.   Business meetings have the flexibility of a classroom, U-Shape or hollow square set-up with plenty of room, as needed for audio equipment. This room was named after the founder Col. Ebenezers Crafts for all the hard work that he did for the Sturbridge area as well as Publick House Historic Inn.

Stonewalls and flower gardens surround this Gazebo located on our beautiful tent grounds.  It offers outdoor lighting and electricity for music connection if needed.

Size

Our white framed tent with side walls and clear arched windows sits from May through October at our garden tent area in the back of the Inn.  It has a stone paver floor, brick walkway entrance, two chandeliers and perimeter rope lighting. Your tables, white chairs, linens and lantern centerpieces are all included with renting our tent. The natural beauty of our Red Barn Patio adds a unique flare to the garden tent area, making it the perfect venue for cocktail receptions, weddings, outdoor gatherings, reunions and business outings.

Our most popular private room is ideal for board meetings, business and social events or a quaint family dinner.  The walls are adorned with hardcover books from days gone by.

This grand ballroom features post-beam cathedral ceilings, large Palladian window, magnificent chandeliers and a greenhouse wall of windows that overlooks our Bake Shoppe Patio. Our weekend events in this beautiful room embrace weddings, anniversary parties and social events.  During the week, it is a popular meeting space for corporate events, with flexibility to set-up classroom style, U-Shape or a hollow square. Years ago, Paige Hall was the outdoor deck of the Inn and enclosed in the 1960’s to create a large ballroom. During the great depression, repairs to the aging Inn were sorely needed, almost closing its doors. But thankfully a gentleman named Richard Paige saved the Inn by purchasing it with a win in a card game, keeping the chain of the Inn’s hospitality alive.

The pineapple is the symbol of welcome and hospitality and that's what your attendees will experience in this charming room.  It is perfect for mid-sized social and business gatherings. The Pineapple Room was the original sitting room for the Inn to welcome guests as they relaxed by the fireplace.

Enjoy the warmth of home in your own private dining room with a gas log fireplace. Located at the front of the Inn, this room is perfect for a family gathering, social celebration or business luncheon. Its name is derived from the timeless elegance and beauty of the pumpkin pine paneling that adorn its walls.  This room was originally the general store, where you could buy sugar, thread, tea, eye glasses, nails or anything else of necessity.  This was a popular stop on the stage routes for travelers passing through the area.
